such package, Education City, intelligently monitors the students progress adjusting the level of difficulty according to the students strengths and weaknesses thus creating a challenging but equally rewarding session.
It has a very thorough reporting system which enables ourselves to oversee the childs progress each week and so perhaps offer help where it is most needed.
All the PC's have broadband internet connections but usage is strictly managed to filter out any inappropriate sites or unwanted pop ups so the kids can surf safely.
Each week has a different themed activity such as healthy lifestyles, a tour of the club and one of the favourites, player interviews alongwith lots of multimedia work (see TLC TV in menu!)
The Try line Centre has two main rooms.
On arrival we will meet and greet the youngsters in our conference room (available for hire!!). This room has both projector and interactive whiteboard so we often start the evening there with a fun quiz. The room is also ideally suited for traditional "pen and paper" lessons or can easily be linked to our network to utilise IT.
The main room which always gets an appreciative "wow!" from the kids is the IT suite. Here we have 16 networked PC's, laser printers and our latest addition a 42" LCD televsion to display the youngster's work.
The PC's have all the standard Microsoft packages installed (Word, Powerpoint, Publisher etc) and we also have specific curriculum linked maths and literacy applications which both entertain and educate the youngsters (sometimes without them realising). One
